Former Drift Spa Employee Charged After Allegedly Sexually Assaulting Three Clients During Massages Inside the Lancaster Marriott Hotel

Former Drift Spa Employee Charged in Alleged Sexual Assault Case

Lancaster police have charged Daniel Campagna, a former massage therapist at The Drift Spa in Lancaster, with allegedly sexually assaulting clients during massage sessions, according to court documents filed Thursday.

Sexual Abuse Allegations Involving Three Clients

Authorities accuse Campagna of inappropriately touching two clients during massages at the spa in April. He is also accused of assaulting another client during a massage at his apartment on Richmond Drive in Manheim Township in November 2024.

Investigators say the investigation is ongoing, and they believe there may be more victims.

Spa Statement and Employment Status

The women-owned small business, The Drift Spa, located inside the Lancaster Marriott Hotel, said Campagna is no longer employed there as of April 18—the day after one of the accusers contacted police to report the alleged assault.

The spa’s owner has not returned calls seeking comment, but the business provided a statement addressing the allegations and its response.

License and Current Custody of Accused Massage Therapist

Campagna’s Pennsylvania massage therapist license was last renewed in 2025 and remains valid until 2027.

He is currently held at Lancaster County Prison and is unable to post bail, court-related information indicates.

The Spa’s Response After Police Contact

In a statement, Founder and Owner Stacey Steffes said the spa acted immediately after learning of the reported conduct, including notifying police, terminating Campagna’s employment, and reporting him to the state licensing board. She also said the business is conducting a review of its protocols.

Legal Options for Victims of Massage Sexual Abuse

After a sexual assault by a massage therapist, the legal questions can feel overwhelming—especially when you are also dealing with physical and emotional harm. Experienced crime victim lawyer Ashley DiLiberto explains the options available to victims, including how to report and document what happened, what the criminal case process may look like, and the ways victims may pursue protection and compensation for their injuries.

Q: For victims who say a massage therapist abused them, what legal paths are available in Pennsylvania?

A: Victims can often pursue criminal justice through the reporting process, which may already be underway when police file charges. Separately, they may also have civil options, such as filing a lawsuit for damages against responsible parties—depending on the facts—like the individual therapist and, in some situations, related organizations if they are legally connected to the wrongdoing.

Q: How does a civil case work if there’s already a criminal investigation?

A: The two tracks can run in parallel. A civil case doesn’t require a conviction to move forward, though timing and strategy matter. Evidence, witness statements, and documentation can be important in both settings, and an experienced attorney can coordinate how to proceed while taking care not to interfere with criminal proceedings.

Q: What evidence should someone try to preserve early on?

A: Anything that helps establish what happened and when—messages, appointment records, receipts, photos or notes, and names of witnesses. Medical records can also matter if there was an exam or treatment. Just as importantly, victims should focus on safety and support first, and let their lawyer guide what to document and how.

Q: Are there time limits victims need to know about?

A: Yes. Pennsylvania has statutes of limitations for many civil claims, and those deadlines can be affected by the type of claim and specific circumstances. A victim should speak with counsel as soon as possible so the case can be evaluated without risking avoidable procedural problems.

Q: If the therapist were licensed, could the licensing process help?

A: It can. Complaints to licensing authorities may lead to investigations, discipline, or other outcomes. While licensing action doesn’t replace a criminal or civil case, it can be part of a broader accountability effort.

Q: What’s one thing you tell victims who feel overwhelmed by the process?

A: You don’t have to navigate it alone. Get legal advice, ensure emotional and medical support, and remember that what you report matters—both for your own recovery and for protecting others. A careful plan can make the process more manageable while protecting your rights.
