SCHEDULE A CALLA 13‑year‑old girl from Baker, Louisiana, who disappeared on or around October 20, 2025, after meeting someone online, was rescued alive in the basement of a home in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
She was found trapped in a box covered with a sheet in the basement of the house in the Brighton Heights neighborhood, after a multi‑agency investigation involving the FBI, state police, and the U.S. Marshals.
The suspect, 26‑year‑old Ki‑Shawn Crumity, was arrested and charged with human trafficking, sexual assault of a minor, unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of a child, and other crimes.
Law enforcement say the girl was groomed through Snapchat, where Crumity lured her with the promise of being adopted by a “trusted adult.”
She traveled from Louisiana, through Georgia, and ultimately to Pennsylvania, where she was held in deplorable conditions. She told authorities she felt safest only once she reached the hospital after the rescue.
This case underscores how predators exploit social media, target minors, and move them across state lines to commit exploitation and abuse.
Although the victim is from Louisiana, the abuse happened in Pennsylvania — making it directly relevant for Pennsylvania families and survivors.
This is a human trafficking case ending in PA.
The use of social media grooming, interstate movement, and sexual exploitation of a minor are exactly the kinds of threats we see across states.
Survivors in Pennsylvania may face similar exploitation or know someone who does — whether it’s in their community or online.
Immediate steps and legal recourse exist for survivors of this nature of abuse in PA.
At Survivors of Abuse PA, our legal team, including attorney Ashley B. DiLiberto, Esq., is experienced in representing victims of child sexual abuse, human trafficking, grooming, and exploitation — especially when multiple states are involved or minors are moved across jurisdictions.
We help survivors with:
Civil lawsuits for sexual abuse or exploitation of minors
Claims against individuals, traffickers, or facilitators
Bringing accountability when online grooming leads to physical abuse
Statutes of limitation, especially under Pennsylvania law
Support and resources for recovery and justice
Monitor kids’ social media accounts and the people they engage with. Apps like Snapchat can be used for grooming.
Be alert to sudden disappearances or unusual travel — even if children claim they’re going to meet a friend or trusted adult.
Know that trafficking doesn’t always look like what you’d expect — sometimes victims are hidden or moved quietly across states.
If a minor says they feel unsafe, or someone they met online wants to “adopt” them, treat it as an emergency.
Seek immediate help from law enforcement, child protection services, and legal counsel if you suspect trafficking or sexual exploitation.
If you or someone you love in Pennsylvania is a victim of sexual exploitation, grooming, trafficking, or online abuse, you don’t have to face it alone. Contact Ashley B. DiLiberto, Esq., at (267) 502‑9090 for a free, confidential consultation with Survivors of Abuse PA. We’re here to help you seek justice and protect your future.
