A shocking case of alleged child abuse involving a law enforcement officer has emerged in Pennsylvania. Christopher S. Young, a 35-year-old State Trooper from Lancaster County, is facing a series of charges after investigators uncovered disturbing patterns of violence against multiple children, including an infant who suffered traumatic injuries while in Young’s care.
Young is accused of aggravated assault, simple assault, child endangerment, and recklessly endangering another person. This comes after his prior arrest for intimidating a witness connected to the same child abuse investigation.
The most severe allegation centers on an incident from September 2023, when an infant sustained head injuries while under Young’s supervision. According to the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Office, the child required hospitalization and physical therapy as a result of the trauma.
A subsequent investigation revealed a pattern of abuse not only against the infant, but also involving two other children. One child reportedly suffered visible injuries when Young pressed his chin into their head repeatedly. Investigators also learned that Young had allowed children access to firearms, including permitting one to hold a weapon, creating a dangerous environment for minors.
In an attempt to interfere with the investigation, Young was previously charged with felony witness intimidation, as well as misdemeanor stalking and loitering. Authorities allege that he sent repeated messages and calls to a potential witness. In a chilling development, police found Young armed with a gun and knife, hiding in the woods behind the witness’s home on the night of February 24, 2025.
Young has since been suspended without pay by the Pennsylvania State Police, and bail was set at $50,000 following his arraignment. The case is being prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Lauren Eichelberger.
“No one is above the law,” said Attorney General Dave Sunday. “The alleged actions by the defendant are deeply disturbing. When a sworn officer violates their oath, it is a stain on all officers who selflessly protect their communities.”
